January 23, 2019 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

TBC

A double bill of two shows, as part TaPP Festival at the University of Salford

7pm – The Futurist Cookbook (and other culinary utopias)
You are invited to a feast from the future! Set aside all that you ever thought you knew about your favourite foods and join us as we lay the table for tomorrow’s nutrition: now!

Inspired by Marinetti and Fillia’s 1932 cookbook La Cucina Futurista, this new performance is an invitation to question what we eat, how we eat it and why we eat it. Put away your spiralizer and make room for your ozonizer as this show will revolutionise your kitchen. There will be no pasta.

8pmwith bread
With Bread is a new multilingual dinner-performance exploring ideas of belonging, migration, cultural and linguistic identity. The show will premiere at ARC, Stockton-On-Tees on 20th March, 2019 and you are invited to experience this work as it is being developed and will have an opportunity to help shape its future.
The term ‘companion’ has its root in the Latin ‘com panis’; “together, with bread”. A poetic interpretation of this suggests that friendship is borne out of the sharing of food. This is echoed in recent research which demonstrates a causal link between eating together and the well being of communities. Breaking bread offers an experience that goes beyond nutrition; it strengthens the bonds of community. Part-lecture, part-storytelling event and part-cookery class, with bread,Th brings people together in a joyous celebration of diversity and difference.
